Grading Process – FAQs
Why does grading take five weeks?
Grading is a crucial part of ensuring fair and competitive divisions. Over the five-week grading period, we assess each team's performance beyond just wins and losses. This allows us to create balanced divisions where all teams can enjoy a competitive and fun season.
How do we determine grading?
We don’t base grading purely on results. Instead, we consider a range of factors, including:
- Strength of schedule – The teams you have played against and their relative strength.
- Scores for and against – Your ability to score and defend in games.
- Comparison of results – How your performance stacks up against other teams in contention for the same division.
What if my team won or lost most of our grading games?
A win or loss alone doesn’t determine your division. We look at the competitiveness of your games. For example, a close loss against a strong team or a big win against a weaker opponent might indicate a different grading decision than just looking at the final score.
Why was my team placed in this division?
Each team’s performance is reviewed based on multiple factors, including competitive games, forfeits, byes, and overall balance across divisions. We aim to keep divisions well-structured, avoiding small groups that lead to excessive byes and disruptions before finals.
What if I disagree with our grading?
We understand that teams may have different expectations for their grading. However, our decisions are made with fairness and competition in mind. If you have concerns, you’re welcome to reach out, but please understand that adjustments are only made in exceptional circumstances.
Individual registrations
Want to join our comp, but don't have a team?
Just Play’s mission is to make it as easy for individuals to play social sport as it is to join the gym, take a yoga class or swim laps in the pool. If you are an individual looking to play social sport but don’t have enough players to make a full team, head to Just Play and they will allocate you to a team!
